Adopt a dog in Cornwall
What are you expecting by adopting a dog in Cornwall? Are you looking for a cute dog, a loyal companion, a workout or running buddy, or someone who can keep intruders away from your home? Whatever it is, we know you will find it in our shelter. We are ROLDA and currently care for over 700 dogs we rescued from the streets in Galati County, Romania. These dogs are resilient, loyal to a fault, absolutely adorable, and will be the best companions you could ever want.
Don’t be shy about expressing your expectations from this relationship. We want you to get along and form a bond that nothing can break. For this, you must be compatible with the dog you will welcome in your home. And, yes, we know you have a big heart – which is why you are looking to adopt a dog in Cornwall – but don’t pick any dog or the one with the saddest story. While many of our pups would be great companions, we still believe some matches are better than others.
Another reason why we insist on you prioritizing compatibility when looking to adopt a dog in Cornwall is that we want to reduce the chances of you not being able to bond with the dog and having second thoughts about the whole thing. While it may not be the end of the world for you or us, it might feel like that for a dog whose greatest woe was having been abandoned in the first place. So, let’s reduce the chance of that happening all the way down to zero.
We know opening our website and choosing one dog over another is difficult. We even understand the temptation to want to take them all home. All of us working here at ROLDA have felt the same thing. The only difference is that, instead of taking them all home, we almost moved into the shelter to be closer to them all the time. But this is not an option for you, so let’s stick to the reality that you are looking to adopt a dog in Cornwall and have to pick one of them.
How to pick your dog?
We care for over 700 dogs. So, before you start looking at pictures and become completely stuck, make a mental picture of the dog that would best fit your life at this moment.
• Do you have a lot of space, a yard, or a park nearby where a bigger dog could get the necessary workout?
• Do you have time to take your dog out for at least two to three walks around the block? A more energetic dog might need that.
• Where will your new friend sleep?
• How pet-friendly is your city? Can you take any dog anywhere?
• Would you have an easier time handling a smaller dog?
• Can you take care of an animal with medical problems? Can you administer medicine, afford medical checkups, and provide proper care?
• What type of job do you have? Would your dog be alone at home most of the day? This would be harder on a younger dog.
Now, with these ideas in mind, you can start looking at pictures of our dogs. One of two things will happen.
1. You will find EXACTLY the type of dog in your description.
2. You will fall in love with a completely different dog, and no other dog will ever do.
Both cases are perfectly acceptable when looking to adopt a dog in Cornwall. First, we know it was a rational match, and second, we know you are lovestruck and will accept nothing less.
