Adopt a dog in Edinburgh

Envision the unique joy of welcoming your new furry companion from the airport. You bring them to their designated areas for rest, nourishment, leisure, and play in your home. As time passes, you witness a bond that is truly unique, a friendship that brings immense happiness and fulfillment.

This is the unique experience of adopting a dog from our ROLDA shelters in Romania and inviting them into your home in Edinburgh to become a cherished member of your loving family.

The ROLDA rescue team is responsible for changing the lives of thousands of abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs in Romania. We operate two shelters in Galati County, which we built from scratch solely from donations, with no help or intervention from the local or state authorities. This is a labor of love and one we are more than proud of. So, when you adopt a ROLDA dog in Edinburgh, you will join the efforts of this hard-working team.

You become one of our own!

ROLDA dogs remain in our care until adopted

The dogs in our ROLDA shelters are strays who were born on the streets, pets who were abandoned, and pets who were abused or neglected. Despite their hunger and thirst, some are in relatively good health when we rescue them. Once we attend to their basic needs, arrange a medical check-up, and assure them of their safety in our shelter, they reveal their wonderfully affectionate nature and playful personalities. Watch them in our videos, bouncing around with joy as our caretakers appear to provide them with food, water, a pat on the head, or to take them out for a walk.

Our only remaining task is to find each one a loving home. We keep hearing that Edinburgh is a lovely place for dogs, so we hope you might consider adopting a ROLDA dog.

While strays may not boast a pedigree, they are just as endearing and capable of forming deep bonds with their human companions as dogs with a long lineage of purebred ancestors. In addition, strays are low maintenance and have fewer health risks. Many breeds have specific health issues that potential owners must consider, not to mention special dietary needs. On the contrary, stray dogs have survived on much less. Providing them with food, shelter, love, and attention means the world to them.

Are the dogs ROLDA rescues traumatized and scared?

Sadly, yes. They have been through a lot of hardship. But please don’t let this affect your decision to adopt a dog in Edinburgh. Most strays and rescues are traumatized and scared, even in more animal-friendly cities like Edinburgh. We spend time with each dog we rescue to help them know they are safe in our shelters, and we do our best to prepare them for adoption. Despite our best efforts, adopters may need to provide extra love and care. But this will be something you choose to do—not an unpleasant surprise once the dog is already in your home. As far as we are concerned, we are very transparent about our residents and the experiences they have been through and that we know of.

In other words, once you decide to adopt a dog in Edinburgh, you will get all our information on him: where and in what condition he was found, what type of care he needed upon arrival at our shelter, whether or not he still needs any medication or recovery therapy in any way.

Our goal is to find our dogs forever homes without deceiving adopters into signing up for more than they can handle regarding medical attention and care. Should you feel confident that you can offer unconditional love to a ROLDA dog, we strongly encourage you to welcome them into your life.

Our dedicated team in Edinburgh is always on standby to assist you and your new four-legged family member, providing guidance and answering any queries you may have.
