Arrow has only been with us for just over a week and from day one he has stolen our hearts and become a huge part of our family, we wouldn’t be without him! He’s settled in so well, loves his walks, playing with other dogs, and most of all… people.
He stops to say hello to everyone we meet and they all say what a lovely natured dog he is! Through positive reinforcement he is doing so amazingly well in training, he’s a superstar!
Beautiful inside and out, a gentle giant who just wanted a loving home that he can thrive in and he’s got that with us for life! We have never had a rescue dog before and we can honestly say it’s been the most rewarding experience of our lives. We can’t thank Dana and ROLDA team enough for rescuing Arrow and bringing him into our lives, Sarah & Gemma are amazing and are always on hand with any questions we have. We are one lucky family!

Darie adopted by Angela

Darie arrived on 29th August this year, very scared and unsure of himself. We knew that Darie had a phobia of leads, so we had done some research and bought Darie a harness to attach the lead to. After his 48 hours quarantine, amazingly Darie willingly walked down our quiet cul-de-sac wearing his harness. Very slowly and always at Darie’s pace, we have introduced him to different experiences and socialized him meeting friends and their dogs on walks where lockdown has allowed.
Darie has completely transformed from the timid dog that he was, tail down, walking close by my side and freezing when he saw another person or dog in the distance until they had passed – even freezing occasionally in the initial weeks for no apparent reason whilst on walks down the canal and in the park until he sensed he was safe. A good few times when Andy or Lewis and Emily tried to walk him in those early weeks, an SOS call resulted in me having to rescue them in the car and bring them home!
Darie now likes to lead the way, tail high as a kite and wearing his signature silly smile!
He now walks happily with collar and lead, which I’m pleased about as his harness had rubbed his hair a bit and I was worried he’d start getting sore. I wouldn’t say he’s ever over-excited at the prospect of a walk…. his favorite place is lying on his cushion on the sofa, nicknamed ‘Darie Daydream’, he won’t think of beating you to the door, tail wagging, until he has made you wrangle him into his harness (or more usually now his raincoat or winter coat) whilst he lies on his back, most incompliant, asking for tummy rubs with straight legs and silly smile!!
The photo of Darie arriving at the park just about sums this up.. sporting his raincoat and stretching back and forth whilst yawning!!
Darie was able to run free off the lead after only 2 weeks. He loves nothing more than chasing squirrels and running through the woods like a crazy thing! He loves playing with other dogs and will often instigate a game of chase, and boy is he fast!! The video is Darie and Blaze, the Staffy cross in all their glory making us laugh!
Darie loves his stuffed toys and will wrestle with them and throw them about himself to chase after! He loves paddling and we were able to take him to the seaside in Devon for a couple of days where he enjoyed playing on the beach and even a ferry ride across the estuary, running up the gangplank like a pro!
Darie is a bit of a chicken thief! Within 2 hours on the day of his arrival, he proudly strutted out of the kitchen carrying a whole roast chicken..thankfully cold but nevertheless whole!! He then proceeded to jump the 2 stairgates like mini hurdles!
Another favorite pastime of Darie’s is watching what we jokingly call his ‘little chicken’. Rufus, the African Grey seems to revel in Darie’s attention but I’m not sure who’s antagonizing who! Rufus can often be heard calling Darie’s name!!
Darie has grown in confidence and is a really happy and loving dog. He is always making us laugh with silly things he does. The other day he was staring at a cat whilst walking on his lead with his head at 90 degrees. Needless to say, he walked straight into a dustbin! Seemingly without even flinching and making it look like he meant it to happen he nonchalantly cocked his leg up on the bin like a reflex action and walked past! He also has a bit of a fetish for playfully nipping bums if he’s not getting enough attention!
Now that Darie has settled with us so well and is so trusting, another little monkey popped out on the ROLDA adoption site bearing the name of Dan! We are so looking forward to receiving Dan into our home as a companion for Darie in the new year. Dan looks a bundle of mischief being 4 months old and is almost the spitting image of Darie! I think that Dan will definitely give Darie a run for his money and being young will be a wonderful playmate for Darie who is turning more into a puppy himself day by day!!
We are looking forward to Darie’s first Christmas with us. He is sporting his Christmas coat and luckily the tree is still standing!! Thank you ROLDA for letting us adopt Darie and we are so excited for the arrival of Dan in January!!

Mia adopted by Sarah

ROLDA is such a beautiful charity doing so much good work in Romania with stray and injured dogs. We adopted Mia from ROLDA over 9 years ago and she is the most beautiful girl we could have ever wished for. She has such a sweet personality and acts as a mother to our other two unruly dogs. We call her the fun police because she is always breaking up the boy’s fun with a well-timed “Stop it!” in doggy language. She is the most empathetic dog I have ever met.
She picks up on our emotions and seems to do all the right things without us even asking her. She seems so grateful to be in a loving home. We can’t thank ROLDA enough and still keep in touch with them and support them when we can.

Azucar adopted by Karen

Azucar came to us a few weeks ago and although she is a very shy dog, we can see that she has a beautiful loving nature. It’s going to take a little while for Azucar to settle in properly but she’s already a part of our family and we can’t wait to see her personality shine through once she knows how safe and loved she is with us. The adoption team at ROLDA are wonderful. You have so many questions when you’re looking to adopt a dog and they are always willing to answer your queries.

Inka is doing brilliantly – great friends with the cats, the cats go on walks with them! Inka goes to work with David in the van who is a gardener and makes friends with all his clients.
Inka is great off lead, very loving and affectionate and they wouldn’t be without her.

Tofu adopted by Kathryn Cockrill

Tofu is good, we’re working on his nervousness (both around dogs and people). We’ve been taking him on walks with my friend and her dogs and he’s been doing really well with them he’s also learnt ‘sit’ and we’ve started some recall training with him on a long lead. He’s still not a massive fan of other people but we’re trying at the moment to have interactions with the same people again and again so he can get used to them slowly.

I wanted to say thank you as well for bringing this gorgeous bundle of love, non stop licks and kisses and fun into my life. I will forever be grateful thank you. If I didn’t think both my cat, Tom and Cassie (Cassata) would pack up and leave me I’d be adopting another gorgeous pooch!

Mimi adopted by Thomas Waite

Mimi is brilliant. It’s crazy to think how far she’s come over the last year – when she arrived she was nervous about anyone/anything that crossed her path, but now she’s adventuring around London with almost no trouble at all.
We even travelled back to see family before Christmas, and she loved all the attention. I thins she’s missing the beach now though!
She’s also starting to go completely off lead in the park, after a lot of training and help from a few other little pups she plays with – she’s got quite the social life!
We’re so grateful to the team at ROLDA for helping us find Mimi. She’s really changes our lives for the better, and I hope she’d say the same about us.

Aisa adopted by Ruth Coombs

Asia’s settled in well, she’s a star. Trying hard to please. She knows her name when it suits her. Still very foody. Seams happy enough, obviously would like more food, more walks, more cuddles, more, more, more. She’s a lot “easier” than Sylvie! We got her a 50m training lead to give her a run, she just stands there “I know I’m still attached” She has been off lead a couple of times for games of chase when there’s been no distractions.

Dave (Reuben) adopted by Hazel Fuller

I was very excited and nervous when I went to collect Dave, now Ruben, from the pick up point. I watched the other doggies meet their new “Parents” and I could hardly breathe! Then out he came, the sweetest little puppy in the world (I guess we all say that!).
We spent time getting to know each other and he was a right little monkey into everything doing “puppy” stuff!
He has a special “look at me” walk when he wants to get another dog attention which is very funny to watch! But I still had to get to the bottom of his “not being quite right”.
I am truly grateful to have him in my life and that I have been able to help him. He is still a cheeky monkey and has so much character the dogs he meets have a hard time keeping up with him and everyone comments how lovely and handsome he is!
I always get asked where he came from so I tell everyone I meet about ROLDA. It makes me very proud to be Ruben’s “mum”. He especially loves going for walks in the woods, playing in the snow, playing with his grey mouse and most importantly loves his food.
Thank you ROLDA for entrusting me with this little man and for the smooth process of adopting him. I love him to bits, and I’m pretty sure he loves me!

I will never forget the night we brought Lila home. She was absolutely terrified, a complete shell of a dog, and we quickly realised it was going to take a long time for her to truly trust us. With a lot of love, patience and some help from our behaviourist, we now have a very happy and healthy girl living her best life. Although we still have a way to go, her confidence has improved so much. She’s learn A LOT of tricks and is also settling in well at daycare. She loves to run around with other dogs and is always up for a good game of tug. We will be eternally grateful to ROLDA for saving her and bringing her to us. She has brought an immeasurable amount of joy into our lives and we really couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful dog.

Martha (now Marty) adopted by Polly Harman

Martha we call her Marty is doing very well. She is one sassy pocket rocket. I’ve never known a dog with such short legs move so fast. She has settled in really well. She loves my friends Border Terrier and when they get together they go mad. We stayed in a B&B in the Lakes last month and Marty was great. She loves coming up into Derbyshire walking with us and is off lead when appropriate to do so. She is still a bit shouty when strangers come to the house but soon settles down once she realises they are OK. All in Marty is a great family dog.

She’s great, she loves her sleep and home comforts! Her character comes out more every day. She’s fond of ‘her chair’ near the window and will just sit and look at you if you’re sat on the chair until you get up so she can sit in her spot! She’s a little princess.

She’s absolutely fine and lovely, and although still a little bit shy and not quite sure what she’s supposed to do, probably not helped by being almost completely deaf, she loves a cuddle and does a very pretty welcoming dance when we come home.

She’s doing well for the most part. She’s still guarding a little & likes to play quite roughly, so we keep her on a leash around children. She’s very intelligent & has taken to training beautifully, but when she gets too excited that all goes out of the window!! She loves to use her voice (and boy, what s voice for such a small dog!)

Olive is doing great settled in really well with us, we love her to bits, she has been on three holidays with us. One in a lodge and two in our caravan. She is a spoiled little girl.

He’s doing really well and has really come into his own and even plays with us and snuggles up on the sofa, which is such a big step for him.
He always liked his own space but he really seems to want to be with us now and get cosy.
His tummy problems have got so much better and we know what foods to stay clear of as the vet said he has a slight food allergy.

He has had a couple of holidays. He loved them both but he isn’t so keen on been in the car but we are working on that. He is well known locally and is one of the star dogs in the area. People just can’t believe He has come from the background of a stray dog from Romania. He loves people and surprisingly children of all ages. His favourite food is either chicken or mince mixed with his dry food and often gets them cooked fresh for breakfast lunch and dinner. We absolutely adore him! Finally he has a bed downstairs and upstairs but chooses to sleep in between mum and dad or his sisters bed every night! He is an beautiful loving playful boy who loves to be with us all the time. His journey in development since he arrived at the end of March is amazing and qe couldn’t imagine a life without him. We are so grateful to Rolda particularly Chris for all she did when there was an a little hiccup in the adoption process.

Flash adopted by Owen Gorden

Flash has been with me for just over a year now and to be honest adopting him was the best thing I ever did. He’s really settled here now, it didn’t take him long to find his feet in the house, my two housemates are both really pleased to have him here. Flash is such a brilliant little character, he loves sleeping on his sofa and going out for walks in the park. I’ve been lucky to be working from home so I get to spend most of the day with him, he’s no bother at all. He’s not really interested in playing with toys, ropes, balls etc, if it isn’t edible he isn’t really interested. I have spent some time trying to peak his interest but as soon as he realises something is not food he loses interest. I bought a 30 metre training lead to give him more freedom on walks, but he always stayed close to me so he’s been walking without a lead for a few months now. He spends most of the time sniffing the trees and bushes but always follows me around, during the summer I kept him on the lead more to prevent him from approaching people having barbecues. He’s been brilliant with other dogs, he likes to play and chase with the smaller ones but will give any dog that’s bigger than him a wide berth. He refuses to go out if it’s raing now and I honestly can’t remember seeing another dog that jumps over puddles lol, most dogs I have looked after go running through the. Everyone that meets Flash seems to instantly take to him and I often hear people saying how cute he is as we walk along. All in all I feel incredibly lucky to have found such a brilliant little dog.

Gracie chilling she is big!!! Gracie is still very nervous around other dogs except Ben and Bernie. She barks a lot too!! Gracie is 14kg and Ben is a healthy 5.2 kg

Katy is thriving and a wonderful addition to our family. After a bad skin infection when she first arrived she is now fully healthy and happy. We are so thankful to have her in our lives and are so appreciative of the wonderful efforts made by ROLDA to care for and rehome dogs like Katy.

Zora adopted by Deborah Morse

Nora is doing very well. She has settled in to the family well. George (also a ROLDA dog) adopted in 2012, and her are buddies. Nora doesn’t want to play with him but they chase around the garden together hoping to catch the squirrel.
She’s actually very good with our grandchildren, which I wasn’t expecting. She likes playing chase with them and me. I wondered if being chased would upsed her but she loves it. You never know what happened to then do you?
We have to be careful of picking up sticks or in my husband’s case, hoes or spades. She gets really worried by that. Perhaps she’s been hit with something.
She is still a bit reactive to other dogs that are running or if they come up to her. We keep her on a lead at all times around other dogs. But saying that she has made a few doggie friend with calm quiet dogs.
We are slowly getting her used to the car. She gets car sick, and hates it really. But we can go on short journeys for walks. We try and go were we can let her off the lead (no other dogs). We try to make sure that the journey has a nice destination.
She is family now and we love her dearly. We can leave her and George for a few hours. She doesn’t seem to mind. If we are more than that my neighbour comes in to let them both out and have a few biscuits.

Limba is wonderful!! She has totally settled here and is a truly beautiful dog.

She is amazing! Honestly she is our little bundle that we couldn’t love more. She is completely settled, we take her to dog classes each week which she loves. She has some doggy friends too who she adores.
I’m sorry there’s so many! Im a bit of an obsessive dog mum like that we will never be able to thank you enough for bringing her into our lives. We honestly love her to pieces and don’t know what we’d do without her.
We have so many people comment on how much of a beautiful dog she is! I say that’s because she’s a mongrel.
She is the best, both of our families love her to pieces and say how she is such a good girl.
Thank you for allowing us to adopt her! We won’t ever have the words to express all of our gratitude to you. She is our baby!
That is so adorable that you’ve given so many dogs such a happy life honestly fills my heart with such love. I don’t think you can ever have too many pictures of them.
