Beatrice Welles

The daughter of Orson Welles loves and supports our work so much that she has financially sustained our rescue actions since 2001.

Lolita Morena

The Swiss celebrity animal activist and ex-Miss Universe visited the ROLDA shelters in 2013 and has continued to visit us regularly ever since, she continues to visit us regularly. Lolita is now part of the ROLDA Board of Directors and also one of the founders of our Swiss sister charity which fundraises for ROLDA shelters’ needs and rural community support (e.g. sterilization of pets from poor families).

Thanks to donations from our dedicated and generous supporters, ROLDA has built two modern shelters for dogs and one shelter for senior cats.

We are constantly upgrading our shelters to meet good safety standards and to ensure animals feel at home.

We ensure that we help the people who care for and respect animals in need, as well as the animal themselves.

When the war started in Ukraine, ROLDA was one of the first charities that helped animals affected by this tragic situation.

PawzUp Center is our big dream, our way to bring people and animals together and allow them to help one another and enjoy each other’s company.

On top of rescuing and rehoming abused and abandoned animals, we are actively involved in finding a long-term solution to the Romanian stray overpopulation. Part of this includes the organization and implementation of sterilization campaigns every year.

As a registered charity, we are regularly inspected by the following bodies:

(National Veterinary Authority)
Visits ROLDA frequently and files a report detailing how animals are handled, sheltered and treated medically, and how welfare rules are respected. They also check official papers and internal registers, including our vaccination campaign and other matters related to animal health.

(part of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security)
Inspectors ensure we respect employees’ rights.

(which is part of the Ministry of Finances in Romania)
Regularly inspect our finances to ensure we are contributing the correct amount of tax.
