Adopt a dog in Aberdeen

So, you wish to adopt a dog in Aberdeen and wonder whether international adoptions are good. Yes, they are. They are the main thing keeping us going, as this option has opened up a new world of possibilities for us and our dogs.

We are ROLDA, a Romanian rescue team fighting for the lives of abandoned animals. We have built two shelters in Galati County, where we house and care for 700 dogs. In 15+ years of activity, we have saved thousands of dogs and found homes for most of them. We get them off the streets, get them checked out, vaccinate and treat them, work with them in case they need some help trusting people once again, and we even teach them to be good dogs when out on a walk, all so that you can adopt a dog in Aberdeen and choose him from among our pups!

For dogs whose traumas were too severe or have left them with permanent medical issues, or for the ones who are too old to be adopted, our shelters have become their forever homes. This means that these poor dogs, although they might never run again, or they might never in their lives enjoy the comfort of a domestic home and know the love of a family, can still live out the rest of their lives in a safe space, away from speeding cars, ill-intentioned people, extreme cold or heat, starvation, and thirst. Is this as good as being picked by someone looking to adopt a dog in Aberdeen and give him a loving home? No, but it’s better than being alone on the streets without any support.

International adoptions are vital for ROLDA

At ROLDA, we are committed to saving animals, and each case is a journey we undertake with great care. While our facilities provide a safe haven for some, our ultimate goal is to find loving homes for all. Your decision to adopt a dog in Aberdeen is not just a personal choice, it’s a significant contribution to our mission, making a real difference in the lives of these animals.

The process is not complicated, as we have the help of the international ROLDA team to handle things. Everything will be easily taken care of, from documents to transportation logistics. On your end, you need to show that you can provide your new best friend with a safe place to eat and sleep, that you have the time to spend with him during your accommodation period, that you can walk him daily and provide the right amount of exercise, including playtime. On our end, we need to ensure that, should you encounter any problems along the way, you will contact our ROLDA colleagues for help.

Wanting to adopt a dog in Aberdeen comes with great responsibilities, and we hope that your home will be the final one for our little dogs. Some of them have had a home in the past but were abandoned. The last thing we’d want is to put them through all that again, only for them to end up back in our shelter. So, while we deeply appreciate your desire to help and welcome the possibility of finding as many homes as possible for our pups, we also need to ensure this is permanent for everyone involved.

Abandonment and abuse, backed by a careless attitude on behalf of the government officials who should be dealing with these issues, are the main reasons why we have our hands full at ROLDA and why we rely so much on international adoptions to find homes and people who will expand the community. Thank you for your intention to adopt a dog in Aberdeen; we hope you find your furry friend in our shelter!
